MOLDOVA WILL BE HELPING TRANSNISTRIA COMBAT CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

President Igor Dodon said in his live communication with citizens that Moldova will be providing all-sided assistance to Transnistria in combating the coronavirus pandemic.

“We have established good cooperation with the Transnistrian administration. Last week, I had several telephone talks with PMR leader Vadim Krasnoselsky, we are promptly resolving all the problems”, Dodon said.

Answering to questions from Transnistrians, he said that coronavirus tests for people from the region are conducted in Chisinau.

“So far, 2957 tests have been conducted in Moldova, including 281 – from Transnistria. Out of 505 infected with coronavirus, 32 are from the PMR. They are undergoing treatment in Transnistria. Only one gravely ill person was hospitalized to Chisinau. We provide help in opening a certification lab on coronavirus diagnosing in Tiraspol. Yesterday, 7 Transnistrian specialists visited Chisinau to study our lab’s work”, the president said.

He said that in the period of emergency situation, all the customs stations at the Transnistrian section of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border were closed at the Ukraine’s initiative.

“I hope this is a temporary measure. Now, all the cargoes in Transnistria go through the south or the north of Moldova. There are no problems or delays in any field, including in transit of medications. We are allowing even the medications, which are not certified in Moldova”, Dodon said.

He stressed that there are no restrictions for Transnistrian citizens’ movement across the Dniester River.

“There are no and there will be no restrictions. Transnistrian region residents are our citizens and we do not restrict their movement. Transnistria introduced a special regime of movement for the period of the state of emergency, people from the mainland Moldova cannot travel to Transnistria, but we have not introduced any restrictions”, Dodon stressed.

As Infotag has already reported, there are 505 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 32 are from Transnistria. Six people died, including two – in Transnistria.
