ROWING CENTER OPENS IN BENDERY

A rowing center has been recently opened in Bender after major repairs to the rowing base Chaika at the sports school. The center has a gym and warm-up rooms, a hall for game sports. An outdoor sports ground has been prepared and a hotel complex has been set up.

There are more than 300 young athletes. There are 27 groups in three areas: kayaking and canoeing, academic rowing and power lifting. 15 coaches-teachers train the future champions.

“The hotel will allow members of country’s national rowing and canoeing teams to carry out comprehensive and high-quality training for participation in international competitions”, Olympic champion, President of the Moldovan Academic Rowing Federation Larisa Popova told Infotag.

Director of the school Tatiana Grebenciucova said that it is also planned to develop new sports such as dragon boating, paddle boarding and coastal rowing.

The work was carried out at the expense of the Transnistrian Capital Investment Fund.
