29 july, 2020

Moldova President Igor Dodon and Transnistria leader Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke out for continuing their dialog aimed at resolving the problems faced by the residents of the two Dniester River banks. They stated this following their working meeting held at the Condrita presidential residence on Tuesday.

President Dodon said: "Today I held my 7th meeting with Transnistria president Vadim Krasnoselsky. I want to highlight one positive moment: all these [3.5] years we have been in a constant fruitful dialog. We do everything to solve the problems of the residents of the left and right Dniester sides. And today we had a good dialog, too".

Igor Dodon highlighted as "very important" the banking question, which was discussed today with the participation of the heads of two central banks.

"We also discussed in detail all aspects of the telecommunication question pending. On this issue, amendments were introduced into the Moldovan legislation yet a year and a half ago. We have reached a principal decision on the building of a trolleybus line [between Bendery city and Varnita village]. I believe that with the help of our foreign partners, we will be moving in this direction fairly fast. And concerning criminal cases pending there is an understanding, too, of how to move on", said Igor Dodon.

Vadim Krasnoselsky stated that the Tuesday's dialog differed from all previous ones.

"Besides the two presidents, it involved the Sides' Political Representatives and the competent persons authorized to tackle the problems concerned namely telecommunications, banking issues (conversion of currencies, opening of bank accounts, resumption of the work of the MasterCard and Visa in Transnistria), criminal cases, the trolleybus line", said Krasnoselsky.

In his words, it is exactly the participation of the heads of important spheres and of the sides' Political Representatives at the Chisinau-Tiraspol negotiations "permitted us to go deeper into the situation and into the technical aspects of the questions the grassroots' lives depend on".
