On Wednesday evening, November 11, current head of state Igor Dodon said on RENT TV – Moldova that if he won the presidential elections of November 15, he would like to hold the first meeting with the leader of Transnistria, Vadim Kranoselsky.

Dodon reminded that after winning the elections in November 2016, he also held the first meeting with Krasnoselsky, in early January 2017. After that, on January 17, he made his first official visit abroad - to Moscow.

“Now, I would like to do the same: to discuss how we will move forward. As for foreign meetings, I am ready to go both to the West and to the East, depending on what problem needs to be solved first of all,” the official stressed.

Dodon noted that during the four years of his mandate as president, he held eight meetings with the head of the unrecognized Transnistria. In his opinion, “this allowed solving a lot of issues and significantly bringing the positions of Chisinau and Tiraspol closer together.”

“This allowed solving a lot of issues and significantly bringing the positions of Chisinau and Tiraspol closer together”.

The incumbent President outlined the need to pursue a balanced foreign policy, expressing fears that “this balance” will be upset if his opponent, Maia Sandu, wins.

“She unequivocally stands for the preservation of the pro-European vector and, in this case, we may have serious problems with the export of our products to the Russian market. We can not afford to be friends with Russia against the West or with the West against Russia,” Dodon stated.
