TIRASPOL LEADER PERMITS TRANSNISTRIANS, STAYING ABROAD, TO COME HOME FOR ELECTIONS

The Tiraspol authorities will open borders on November 29 for those residents of the Transnistrian region who are staying in foreign countries, including in the mainland Moldova, so that they could come home and take part in the elections of all-level deputies.

Such decision was taken on Monday by the Transnistrian presidential headquarters in the presence of Transnistria president Vadim Krasnoselsky. The body decided that on the last Sunday in November, “citizens of Transnistria will be permitted to cross Transnistria’s state borders in both directions between 7 am and 9 pm. At entering the region, each such traveler will receive a special card, which will be necessary to produce at one’s way back.

At the same time, the Tiraspol administration passed a decision on introducing a practice of mandatory testing of young people systematically crossing the Transnistrian border due to their studying outside the Transnistrian region [mostly in the mainland Moldova]. Presently, 519 such travelling students have been registered, of whom 355 cross the border once a week and 164 – daily.
