PARLIAMENT APPROVED IN FIRST READING THE 'GAGAUZIA PACKAGE', LAW ON RUSSIAN LANGUAGE AND LAW IN RUSSIAN TELEVISION COMEBACK

On Thursday, the Moldovan Parliament approved in a first reading the following documents: three laws related to the legal status of Gagauzia, the law on languages' functioning in Moldova, and amendments to the Code of Television and Radio Broadcasting Services stipulating a return of the possibility to retransmit Russian news, analytical and military-political programs in Moldova. These documents were voted for by Socialists and Platform "For Moldova" deputies.

The approval of these bills went without a traditional presentation of the documents, without discussions, and against the background of the forum's central rostrum blocked by Right parties, whose deputies from PAS and DA factions were hissing, whistling and shouting "Shame!"
