TIRASPOL LEADER CONFIRMED READINESS FOR DIALOGUE WITH MOLDOVA

28 december, 2020

Transnistria is ready for dialogue with Moldova both in the “1 + 1” and “5 + 2” formats. This was stated by the leader of the region Vadim Krasnoselsky at his press conference on the results of 2020.

As Infotag reports, commenting on Maia Sandu's recent statements that after becoming president she does not intend to meet with him, Krasnoselsky said that he does not “react to them sharply yet.”

“It's one thing when you, in the status of opposition, make some statements, even if you are elected. It's another matter when you are the current president. These are different degrees of responsibility. Therefore, there is no need to make entries for this hour. Everything must be settled, power must be obtained de jure, and then the president, not the opposition, will make decisions. Then we will look at the statements. Our position remains the same. We are ready for dialogue - both in the 1 + 1 format and in the 5 + 2 format," he stressed.

In the opinion of the Tiraspol leader, at the last presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova, “in fact, they chose not a person, but a vector of development - either western or eastern”.

“Naturally, based on this agenda, the elections were very hot. The election process itself was speculative, hysterical, and so on. Why is that? Because when there is a choice not between people, but between the directions of development, then this is what happens. Naturally, because of this, there was a large turnout: the people came to choose their future - either finally with the West, or still a bias towards the East, towards Russia. The people made their choice by approving the choice of the elite, and soon everyone will feel the consequences of this,” Krasnoselsky stressed.

The official also noted that despite everything, Transnistria “remains true to the principles of good-neighborliness, cooperation and negotiability.”

“At the same time, we unambiguously insist on the presence of Russian peacekeepers on the banks of the Dniester. I believe that this is exactly the base, thanks to which further negotiations are possible, and not firing from machine guns, cannons and other provocations,” he noted.
