TRANSNISTRIA LAUNCHES PFIZER VACCINATION
Transnistria has begun vaccination against COVID-19 with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine received from Chisinau.
On Wednesday, the first vaccine doses were given to 60 medics from the Tiraspol Clinical Hospital. And all in all, over 800 Transnistrian healthcare employees have subscribed to Pfizer.
Vaccination against coronavirus began in Transnistria on March 29 by using AstraZeneca vaccine, over 2.4 thousand doses of which came from Chisinau. However, the first dose of this vaccine was given only to 273 medics, and the second dose will be given in 8 weeks. The thing is, a majority of the Transnistrian population, including healthcare workers, are not rushing to get vaccinated with the Western vaccines, for they are waiting for the arrival of the Russia-promised Sputnik V vaccine.
To date, out of the 42,985 Transnistrians who have caught COVID-19 since the pandemic beginning, 37,359 people have recovered, but 954 have died.
