TRANSNISTRIA ASKS RUSSIA TO INCREASE NUMBER OF VOTING STATIONS IN REGION FOR ELECTIONS TO STATE DUMA

20 may, 2021

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Transnistria has called on the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation and the Russian Embassy in Moldova “to increase the number of polling stations in the elections to the State Duma on September 19, formed in the region.” As Infotag reports referring to the website of the Transnistrian electoral body, the head of the Central Election Commission of the region Elena Gorodetcaia made such a request to her Russian colleagues the day before.

According to her, this is necessary “in order to increase the throughput of polling stations and for the convenience of voters.”

“The formation of additional polling stations will create safe conditions (in a pandemic -" I. ") for the voting of voters and the work of election commissions,” Gorodetcaia argued at a meeting with a member of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Pavel Andreev.

Infotag's dossier: During the last elections in the Russian Federation in 2016, 22 polling stations were opened in Transnistria. About 55.7 thousand residents of the region who have Russian citizenship took part in the voting. More than 200 thousand citizens of the Russian Federation live in Transnistria.
