“ART PARTY-2008” MUST ATTRACT WORKERS OF ART
Chisinau. The “Art Party-2008”, which will take place in the second pavilion of the Moldexpo International Exhibition Center on May 16, will present works by 150 painters of Moldova.
This charity party is conducted for the fifth time on the initiative of the International Women’s Club of Moldova (IWCM).Vice-Chairperson of the Club Marcie Graesin Lambsdorff, who is the wife of the German Ambassador to Moldova, said at a news conference in Infotag on Wednesday that artists submitted various paintings, watercolors, drawings, sculptures from bronze and stone, ceramic articles and so on.
“The works will be sold beginning from USD45. Traditionally painters offer 25% of the earned financial resources to the IWCM charity fund. Besides, the Union Fenosa company offered 4 paintings. If they are sold, the earned money will be totally used for charity purposes”, she said.According to the Vice-chairperson of the club, an entrance ticket costs 100 lei. The collected money will be used for charity purposes. This year the IWCM took a decision to use the collected financial resources for grants for the winners of the contest, announced by the club in spring. Chairperson of the IWCM Grant Commission Kira Byuchkova said that 69 projects were submitted for the contest.
“The majority of the projects were submitted by raions of the republic. The projects deal with the social services, observance of human rights, education, health protection and culture. The cost of the projects wavers from 10 thousand to 50 thousand lei. The winners will be unveiled at the Art Party– 2008 on May 16”, she added.In her words, last year about USD5 thousand were collected in the course of a similar action.
The collected resources were transferred to the Moldova Society of the Blind for purchasing necessary devices. The IWCM functions already 10 years. For this period the club collected USD95 thousand, which were transferred to 62 organizations, as offerings. Art Parties are conducted in Moldova since 2004 on the initiative of the former American Ambassador to Moldova Heather Hodges, who was acquainted with such practice in Peru
