“PACIFISM WITHOUT BORDERS” ASSOCIATION CONCERNED WITH VIOLATIONS OF CITIZENS’ RIGHTS FOR ALTERNATIVE SERVICE
Chisinau. The Pacifism Without Borders International Organization is concerned with more and more violation cases of citizens, who do not want to serve in the army.
Association Chairman Anatol Gutu said on Thursday at a news conference in Infotag that the pacifist movement in Moldova is persecuted and those, who wish to fulfill their obligation before the society and the state, are sometimes forced to serve in the army.
He quoted an example, when in Comrat Piotr Gaidarji was taken by force from final exams to Technical College by employees of the Military Center of Gagauzia.
“The youth was taken away in an unknown direction without having notified his parents and close relatives. He was not allowed passing examinations and receiving his diploma. Employees of the center inflicted moral and psychological damage upon the youth and his parents by their actions. Moreover, the Director of this center confiscated his documents on his membership in a pacifist organization”, Gutu asserts.
In his words, during the present call-up campaign five people were taken to the Army by force.
Gitu expressed his discontent with a publication in the Moldova Suverană, newspaper, which accuses him of setting up his own business at the cost of membership fees of the Association’s members. He asserts that the accusations are not substantiated and intends to appeal against them in the court.
