SDP CONSIDERS DEPOSITION OF MIHAI GHIMPU FROM CMC CHAIRMAN POST IS CORRECT AND COURAGEOUS DECISION
Chisinau. The Social Democratic Party of Moldova (SDPM) considers that the deposition of Mihai Ghimpu from CMC Chairman post is a correct and courageous decision.
Chairman of SDP municipal faction Emil Gutu said at a news conference in Infotag on Tuesday in the connection with the first anniversary of local elections that the decision on Ghimpu’s resignation was taken because of his inefficient activities in the Chisinau Municipal Council.
“When we came to the Chisinau Municipal Council we promised much to Chisinau’s citizens. We set up a democratic coalition and tried to solve problems, but the municipal council proved to be unable to solve any problem of the capital city. Ghimpu’s resignation was a correct decision. In June we were able to do much more that for six months, when the Council was headed by Ghimpu”, - Gutu said
He remarked that in June the Council took more than 500 decisions against 400 decisions for the preceding six months.
“We put three objectives to be achieved by the end of the year – granting targeted compensations, second pensions to pensioners and invalids and getting a credit for the repair of the purification station. Japan will give a credit in the amount of USD100 million with a 0.43% annual interest rate”, Gutu said.
SDP Leader Dumitru Bragis said that there are 56 Mayors, 74 raion Councilors, 1374 local Councilors, three raion Chairmen, five Vice-Chairmen and, what is the most important thing, one CMC Chairman.
“On the whole, for a year we were able to attract 400 million lei of investments”, Bragis asserts.
He quoted the Falesti raion as an example, where 11 projects were realized at the cost of external sources for 15.2 million lei. Ten more projects for 10 million lei are currently being implemented.
“All in all 16 schools and pre-school institutions were repaired and 80 similar projects are being currently implemented. In the villages of Braviceni and Sofia homes for old people worth 20 million euros and 700 thousand euros are being built. Owing to new projects in localities, where there are our representatives, more than 200 jobs were created”, Bragis added.
