ADJUTA-CIVIS DEMANDS TO PUNISH JUDGES RESPONSIBLE FOR MOLDOVA’S DEFEATS IN ECHR

ADJUTA-CIVIS DEMANDS TO PUNISH JUDGES RESPONSIBLE FOR MOLDOVA’S DEFEATS IN ECHR

Chisinau.  The Adjuta-Civis Association for human right protection is demanding to punish local judges who conducted cases that were subsequently lost by Moldova in the European Court of Human Rights.

In the light of the steadily growing number of Moldova’s defeats in the ECHR, the Adjuta-Civis convened a news conference in Infotag today, at which Association Deputy Chairman Alexandru Procop offered an opinion that the Moldovan judiciary works in the interests of only certain people.

“Under the pretext that orders come to them from President Vladimir Voronin and Speaker Marian Lupu, judges do their own business, milking citizens who apply to courts for justice. It’s really a pity that taxpayers provide means for judges’ salaries, but judges work only for themselves”, Procop said.

He presumes that local judges, through whose fault various cases reach the ECHR and Moldova thus loses considerable means, must cover the damage from their own pocket, for “this is only how our judges will be more careful and responsible at passing their decisions in court”.

Adjuta-Civis Chairman Andrei Luchian said the Association is requesting the country leadership, the law enforcement and competent international structures to pay attention to the illicit actions by the Moldovan Supreme Court and the Supreme Magistracy Chamber.

“We are demanding to bring to responsibility not only judges but even the Supreme Magistracy Chamber Chairman, Nicolae Clima, for deliberate marking time, for falsification of court decisions, pressure put on judges, for concealing violations committed by judges, and for many other violations of such kind. We are hereby requesting the Parliament to form a investigation commission that would check instances of interference by the Moldovan President and other high-ranked officials into legal proceedings”, Luchian said.
