HINCESTI MAYOR JOINS DEMOCRATIC PARTY
Chisinau. Alexandru Botnari, who has served two terms as Mayor of Hincesti town in succession as an independent candidate, has announced his joining the Democratic Party (DP).
He told a news conference in Infotag today he had taken such decision finally upon the coming of ex-Speaker Marian Lupu to this organization and upon Lupu’s becoming DP leader.
“Before that moment, some 5-6 parties, both Right and Left, invited me to join them, but not a single one was convincing enough for me to make such a step. The Democratic Party led by Marian Lupu is an organization capable of bringing a new breath into the Moldovan political life, a party which so many people had waited for to come”, presumes the Hincesti Mayor.
“I am convinced Marian Lupu is not a satellite of another party, and he will not form a coalition with the Communists when in parliament. The Democratic Party has a young and very promising team able to offer the most viable solutions for the nation’s problems”, said Botnari, and promised he would resign as Hincesti Mayor from July 1.
“I have applied for DP membership. No, I haven’t been included into the DP electoral ticket yet. I don’t know yet if I will ever come back as Hincesti Mayor. I will wait and see what the Democrats will offer me”, he said.
