ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY REQUESTS AUTHORITIES AND POPULATION TO FORBID KILLING STRAY DOGS
Chisinau. The Animal Protection Society requests the authorities and the population to forbid killing stray dogs.
On Wednesday, at a news conference in Infotag, Chairwoman of this society Valentina Dudnic said that the members of her society reveal daily killed stray dogs.
“These dogs are killed by persons, who can hardly deserve to be called human beings, and by policemen, who use their official firearms for this purpose and explain this by dogs’ intention to bite them, Dudnic said.
She asserts that there are about 6 thousand stray dogs in the capital city.
“The data, asserting that there are about 30 thousand stray dogs in Chisinau is a sheer exaggeration, as there are only 25 thousand stray dogs in Moscow. The stray dog topic is used for political purposes, that is why such exageration is used”, Valentina Dudnic considers.
She says that the society succeeds in sterilizing 150 dogs a month.
Besides, owing to our supporters, we issued special microchips, which are fixed on the dogs after their sterilization and disinsection, which allows counting them. However, after the disturbances of April 7-8 some projects on the financing of such measures were stopped”, she remarked.
Valentina Dudnic calls upon the local and central authorities for paying more attention to the protection of stray dogs and for not allowing their barbaric elimination.
“The European Union will never admit Moldova to its membership, if this inhuman practice of killing stray dogs is not terminated”, she said.
