FOUR COMMUNISTS JOIN DEMOCRATIC PARTY

FOUR COMMUNISTS JOIN DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Chisinau.   Four members of the Communist Party’s Singera community subdivision of 13 have decided to quit the ruling party and join the Democrats.

One of them, sociologist Veaceslav Bistritchi, told a news conference in Infotag today he had always supported Marian Lupu, and now that Lupu is in the Democratic Party, he has decided to follow him.

Bistritchi said, “During the previous election campaign, we had worked so much in Singera and, as a result, the Communist Party won 32% votes in that densely populated Chisinau suburban community. We had worked so because we were said that Marian Lupu would be nominated as candidate for presidency. But that did not happen, disappointing bitterly so many MCP members”.

In his opinion, Marian Lupu’s departure will take minimum 10% ballots away from the Communists on July 29. He explained, “Many MCP members admire Lupu for his being such a wise politician, and even now they will all the same vote for him, i.e. for the Democratic Party, even if they do not state officially their departure from the Communist Party. By the way, quite many Communists are afraid of making such a step in public”.

Another of the said four ex-Communists is teacher Silvia Pargaru, a national Karate champion. She stated at the news conference she had got disappointed about the Communist Party for its reluctance to promote the youth, which she believes is absolutely necessary for the republic to develop.

The four urged voters to cast ballots for the Democratic Party and for Marian Lupu, whom they believe will bring Moldova to a national accord.
