DEMNITATE TRADE UNION PROPOSES TO SUSPEND ALL CRIMINAL SUITS CONNECTED WITH APRIL DISTURBANCES

Chairman of the Demnitate trade union Mihai Lascu proposes to suspend all the criminal suits, which are connected with the April 2009 disturbances, against policemen and other participants.

On Friday, at a news conference he expressed an opinion that it will allow rehabilitating the participants, in order to establish peace in the society.

“For this reason on Sunday the trade union will organize a meeting, where it has invited Prime Minister Vlad Filat, Ministry of Interior Victor Catan, Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco, Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase, Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions Oleg Budza, Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, representatives of the Embassies of the USA, Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE”, Lascu said.

In his words, the meeting will solve problems, relating to the dissemination of the unconfirmed data, which spoil the image of the police in the society.

“I hope that in the future Moldova’s officials will abstain from comments and statements until the guilt of the suspects is not proved in the court”, Chairman said.

Lascu also remarked that measures for protecting the rights of the employees of the Ministry of Interior will be taken.

“It is necessary to solve problems, connected with the granting of dwellings and the remuneration of working hours for weekends and holidays, as well as. the issue of rendering assistance to those, who suffered in the course of the April events”, he said.

In Lascu’s opinion, there must be a psychologist, who would carry daily examinations of policemen in each unit.

The Demnitate trade union was set up in 2009 and it unites policemen, militaries, firemen, employees of state protection service and other law and order authorities. The trade union was set up to defend the rights, as well as the professional, economic, labor, individual and collective interests of its members.
