RUSSIA’S REACTION TO AWARDING ILASCU GROUP IS “UNCEREMONIOUS AND DISPROPORTIONATE”
“Reaction of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Ilascu group awarding is unceremonious and incommensurable”, said Stefan Uritu – presidential counselor and one of the Tiraspol regime inmates, which was arrested together with Ilascu group in 1992.
Uritu said he feels outraged by the Russian MoE comments and waits for an official reaction of Moldovan authorities.
“About the Russia’s reaction concerning our belonging to Bujor group, which committed acts of terrorism, I can say that ex-prosecutor of Tiraspol Boris Luchik recognized this group was a Moscow’s invention made on purpose that Tiraspol could start criminal proceedings against people disliked by regime. The Prosecutor General’s Office has no documents related to some case against Bujor group. In spite of Russia’s statement, there is no request submitted by L. Gusar, whose husband supposedly was a victim of this group”, Uritu said.
According to him, the awards can not influence negatively the Transnistrian conflict solving, in spite of Russian statement. “If the conflict solving would relate to this awarding, we would refuse it. The Transnistrian problem is aggravated by Russia’s steps, including commentaries against us, thus Russia feeds rebellious and criminal forces at the Dniester left riverside, and is pushing it on arrests and citizen murders”, Uritu added.
Ilascu group member Andrei Ivantoc said that charges brought against him resulted from a usual practice of Russia.
“Russia was always accusing those people who live at the Dniester left riverside and protect their country, culture and language. The Republic of Moldova is an independent state, and Russia shall not intervene by its statements in our internal affairs, for example, regarding state awards”, he said.
His ex-colleague Tudor Popa expressed a regret concerning that Russia is attacking them and called them terrorists.
“I had no peace during my 15-years imprisonment and now, during 3 years of freedom, I can not have it too. Russians had awarded Igor Smirnov tough he lives in our country, but we are considered as terrorists”, said Popa.
Infotag's dossier: Last week, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has criticized the decree of acting President Mihai Ghimpu of awarding Ilascu group with state order. According to the Russian MoE, the decree supposedly undermines the efforts to restore the confidence and stability in Dniester region, and Transnistrian authorities named Ilascu group members “murders” and “terrorists”.
