Chisinau, October 1 (Infotag). My Moldova public organization considers that customs services of some CIS countries violate the right of freighters and exporters.

Its Chairman Fiodor Ghelici said on Monday at a press conference in Infotag that drivers have to pay to customs, border and sanitary services for the right to pass a control station quickly, otherwise they are detained without any reason.

“Two vehicles of the Unic-Service company arrived on their way from Moldova to Russia to the Belgorod control station on August 28. Their cargo was unloaded at this terminal, the drivers received respective international documents and had to come back to Moldova. However, the custom service detained them, motivating it by the fact that they did not have a special exit permission and the drivers stayed at the station until September 12”, he said.

Ghelici underlined that the Chief of the Belgorod customs service refused to explain the reason why the Moldovan drivers had been detained, they had to address to the Russian Embassy in Moldova and to the Moldovan Embassy to Russia, the Federal Customs Service of Russia, and the General Prosecutor’s office and even to President Putin personally.

“If the drivers had paid, they had had no similar problems. The Russian customs service ranks first in the number of requisitions, the Ukrainian ones - the second place and the Moldovan one – the third place”, he considers.

Ghelici remarked that in Belarus requisitions are not practiced at control stations and those, who try to give a bribe, can be detained.

According to some drivers, they have to pay 50 lei ($4.35) and 10 lei ($0.87) to Moldovan customs and border offices, 50 and 10 Gryvnas ($9.95 and $2) to Ukrainian ones, 250 and 500 rubles ($10.03 and $20.95) – to Russian ones.

For 24 hours about 100 vehicles pass a control station, if each driver pays 50 lei each, it is not difficult to calculate the illegal profits”, Ghelici said.
