19.10.2007 INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION LEVEL IN MOLDOVA MEETS INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS

Chisinau, October 19 (Infotag). The Intellectual Property Protection level in Moldova meets international standards. Director of the State Agency for Industrial Property (AGEPI) Dorian Chirosca said.

At the seminar “The Management of Intellectual Property: Innovation, Promotion and Technological Transfer”, which was opened on Thursday, she said that Moldova is the signatory of more than 30 conventions, agreements, regional and international treaties, on which basis the intellectual property objects are protected.

The seminar was organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WPO) and the АGEPI on the occasion of the latter one’s XV anniversary. The objective of the seminar was to acquaint the scientific and teaching circles, business community with the intellectual property management and with the international practice of introducing inventions.

Representatives of the WPO, the Eurasian Patent Authority, the State Authority for Inventions and Trade Signs of Romania the State Patent Service of Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyzpatent), the Romanian Authority for the Author’s Rights participated in this forum.

For 14 years 81 495 applications on the registration of intellectual property were submitted to the АGEPI, about 19 850 patents and certificates were issued. At the beginning of 2007 about 40 thousand international trademarks have been recognized as valid, 4652 industrial designs, about 800 names after the place of origin and 1214 national patents (42% out of the number of the issued ones) were registered.
