Chisinau, October 24 (Infotag). The American National Endowment for Democracy (NED) will continue the financing of the activities of the Transnistria Center of Resources and Development via the Promo-Lex association.

Promo-Lex Chairman Ion Manole recalled at a press conference in Infotag on Wednesday that the center was set up by the association in 2006.

“During this time the center conducted a number of actions on the promotion and protection of human rights and the consolidation and development of civil society in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova”, he said.

The center has three departments: of Lawyers and public relations; legal one; that of non-governmental organizations. The first department issues and distributes monthly an electronic bulletin to 3000 addresses to inform about the activities of the center and the situation in Transnistria. Department employees render consulting assistance to local residents and conduct seminars. Legal department employees rendered free juridical assistance on 250 cases.

Chief of the department of non-governmental organizations Alexandru Bucatari said that his department helps non-governmental organizations in managing projects and preparing reports.

In Manole’s opinion, the civil society of Transnistria is still isolated and very poorly developed.

“In this situation its role is very insignificant, but nevertheless it testifies to the desire and potential to develop. We shall continue taking efforts, aimed at encouraging this development”, he said.
