31.10.2007 SUN COMMUNICATIONS DEMANDS FROM NATIONAL COMPETITION PROTECTION AGENCY TO CANCEL ITS DECISION

Chisinau, October 31 (Infotag). The SUN Communications company demanded from the National Competition Protection Agency to cancel its decision on imposing a fine on the company for dishonest competition.

Director General of the company John Maksimchuk said at a press conference in Infotag on Wednesday that SUN Communications also sent an appeal to the court on the suspension of the agency’s decision.

“The activity of the company is conducted strictly in the legal frame. Nevertheless, during the last years we were repeatedly attacked by cable operators, which conduct their business illegally. We hoped that the agency would establish order, but it was the contrary”, Maksimchuk remarked.

In his words, the Acces TV is a commercial agent of the SUN Communications and it promoted the company’s products in the Buiucani sector in the test regime, that is why, the proposed prices were fixed on the level of local operators that was disliked by some of them.

The Director affirms that clients, which signed contracts in the frame of this action knew that their operator was SUN Communications.

“We are planning to bring new technologies, which will result in the reduction of prices for our products. Thus, such actions will soon take place in other sectors of the capital city. We did not violate the law and we shall defend our rights in the court”, he said.

Maksimchuk considers that the agency unveiled details of some confidential documents of the company.

“These documents were submitted to the agency during the investigation, but it unveiled the company’s commercial secret. As a result, we have lost one contract and suffered serious financial losses”, he remarked.

Maksimchuk considers that the agency’s actions compromise Moldova business climate.

As Infotag has already reported, last week the National Competition Protection Agency imposed 2.5 million lei fine on SUN Communications for dishonest competition and for an attempt to oust a competitor from the market.
