‘ROUND TABLE DEUTSCHLAND’ ORGANIZATION TO OFFER GIFTS TO MOLDOVAN CHILDREN

Representatives of the German charity organization Round Table Deutschland came to Moldova in order to offer gifts on winter holidays to Moldovan children from socially-vulnerable families.

A representative of this organization, Peter Weiss said at a news conference at Infotag today that this charity action is meant to bring joy to Moldovan children on winter holidays.

“We will conduct this action in Moldova, for the second year in a row. This year, we arrived to the country on a lorry truck loaded with 5 thousand gifts for children. These presents have been prepared by 5 thousand German children. Thus, we can state that the results of this charity action will make happy about 10 thousand children in all,” he said.

In his words, the gifts will be distributed to kindergartens, orphanages and day-care centers all over the country.

A representative of the Rotаry Club in Moldova, Adrian Potlog, who will help the German organization distribute these gifts, said that the packages sent from Germany contain only new items – clothing, school supplies, books and personal hygiene products.

“Many packages also contain messages written in Romanian language, by the German kids. Although some of them may be written with mistakes, they are very emotional and they clearly prove the sincere willingness of the German children to bring joy to their Moldovan peers,” he said.

According to Potlog, next year, the Moldovan Rotаry Club will try to mobilize the Moldovan children too, so as they also prepare some gifts for those in need. He also stressed that this charity action is absolutely not politically-charged.

German Ambassador to Moldova, Mathias Meyer said that Moldova and Germany have good bilateral relations, not only at high level, but also between the ordinary citizens. “By this charity action we would like to show that there are people with big hearts both in Germany and in Moldova,” he said.

Infotag’s dossier: The German charity organization Round Table Deutschland has started its activities in 2001, by distributing material assistance to street children from Romania. At present, this organization counts about 3.5 thousand active members, dealing with charity actions in different countries.
