COMMUNISTS ATTACK ALL WHO THINK DIFFERENTLY – HISTORIAN STAVILA

Moldovan Communists attack everybody having opinions differing from theirs, all who doubt information about certain historic events and who criticize the Communist Party’s actions, maintains Dr. Veaceslav Stavila, a Chisinau historian.

On Tuesday, he organized a press conference in Infotag to describe how he was attacked by MCP activists in a Chisinau restaurant last weekend. He believes such a hostile attitude to him was due to his historic researches and the information he publishes.

“Over the period of the Soviet Communist regime in Moldova [June 1940 to June 1941, and then August 1944 to mid-1991], a total of 235 thousand residents of Bessarabia [the present-day mainland Republic of Moldova – without the Transnistrian region] were executed, and 73 thousand were exiled over to Siberia. And in 1941, German fascist troops killed 20 thousand Bessarabian Jews. Proceeding from these figures, we can see that the Soviet Communists slaughtered 10 times more people than the Nazi. Exactly these figures are infuriating MCP leader Vladimir Voronin, who maintains that Romanian soldiers killed 500 thousand Jews in Bessarabia [in 1941-1944].

“The Communists refuse to recognize the historic truth, which has been proved and published”, stated the historian.

Stavila further held saying, “In 2012, the pro-Russia local media and Member of Parliament Inna Supac set the civil society against me, calling me a fascist and an anti-Semite. She founded an organization called “Moldova without Fascism” to further galvanize the situation. In 2013, Inna Supac demanded to close down my program on the Moldova-1 public television. Later on, she staged protesting before the Publika TV office in an attempt to incline the civil society against me”.

Stavila voiced indignation that nobody from the restaurant security or other staff even tried to interfere and protect him, and that “from this incident I can make a conclusion that the Communists are trying to intimidate everybody, who don’t support them, to make people fear to appear in city alone”.
