CLASSFEST INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF THEATRE AND FILM SCHOOLS TO UNITE 180 PARTICIPANTS FROM 13 COUNTRIES

The 4th International Festival of Theatre and Film Schools ClassFest, held on April 11-16, will unite 180 participants from 13 countries including Moldova, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Slovakia, Germany, Poland, against 130 participants from 8 countries in 2013.

The festival is organized by the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, the Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau, German Goethe-Institute in Romania, Russian Center of Science and Culture in Moldova and the Union of Cinematographers.

At the Thursday press conference in the Infotag Agency, the Festival Director, Dean of the Academy Faculty of Theater and Cinema, Svetlana Tirtau said that it became a good tradition for students from different countries and different theater and cinema schools to meet in Chisinau to share experience and develop intercultural dialog.

“Chisinau theaters offered professional stages for students, so that they could demonstrate their skills. The movies screening will be held in the Museum of Zemstvo. During six days performances of different genres will be presented”, announced she, mentioning that the entrance is free.

Minister of Culture Monica Babuc said that ClassFest is an extremely important event for Moldovan cultural life development.

“In 2010, the Ministry almost doubled the investments for cultural projects financing. This year the Ministry allocated 110 thousand lei for the Festival, which is one of the largest financial contributions to cultural events organization”, said she.

Marius Lazurca, Romanian Ambassador to Moldova, mentioned that 60 people represent Romania this year and expressed his content with the fact that the Festival became a link between Moscow, Chisinau and Bucharest.

The Academy Rector Victoria Melnic said that within the Festival, the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts will award Romanian director Mihai Malaimare with the title Doctor Honoris Causa.
