Moldova’s ex-president Vladimir Voronin and the organization he heads – the Moldovan Communist Party (MCP) continue to enjoy the population’s highest trust, according to the results of an opinion poll that were presented in Infotag on Wednesday by experts from the Moldovan Association of Sociologists and Demographers, who carried out the poll by order of the Chisinau branch of the CIS Parliamentary Assembly’s International Institute for Monitoring of Democracy Development.

 

It was said at the presentation that 22.6% Moldovans trust Vladimir Voronin and 21.9% trust the Communist Party. The troika of respected-most politicians includes also the Moldovan Prime Minister, First Deputy Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Iurie Leanca (16.9%) and LDPM leader Vlad Filat (11.4%).

 

Positions from the 4th to 9th look as follows: Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca – 8.7%, Party of Socialists Secretary General Igor Dodon – 8.5%, Democratic Party leader Marian Lupu – 5.1%, PARUS party leader Renato Usatii – 3.8%, Parliament Chairman Igor Corman – 2.3%, Liberal Party Chairman Mihai Ghimpu – 2.2%. And the 10th is Popular Anti-Mafia Movement leader Sergiu Mocanu, with 1.8%.

 

Had the parliamentary election been held on nearest Sunday, 53.6% respondents “would surely go” to the polls, and another 29% – “would most probably go”.

 

The highest number of ballots, 23.2%, would be cast for the Communist Party, followed by the LDPM – 13.9%, and the Democratic Party – 7.8%. Besides these, the 6% electoral barrier would be cleared by the Liberal Party (6.9%) and the Party of Socialists (6.6%).

 

The research was carried out on September 1 through 12 in 76 various-type populated areas of the mainland Moldova [Transnistrian region exclusive], and it involved 1,191 respondents. The pollsters are saying that error should not exceed ±3%.
