UNIONISTS BLAME GHIMPU AND CHIRTOACA FOR MISAPPROPRIATING OTHER PEOPLE’S MERITS

The representatives of the organizations of the Tiras-Tighina Association of Transnistrian Conflict Veterans, Solidaritate, and Tineretul National-Crestin (National Christian Youth), known to be ardent supporters of the idea of unire [unification of the Republic of Moldova with Romania], have expressed indignation that Liberal Party Chairman Mihai Ghimpu and First Deputy Chairman Dorin Chirtoaca “are misappropriating other people’s merits”.

Tiras-Tighina Chairman Anatol Caraman said at a news conference at Infotag on Monday that the Liberal Party has made a documentary film called “Basarabia – 200 de ani de strainie” (Bessarabia – 200 Years in Captivity), which contains episodes about events in Chisinau, which the Liberals have no relation to.

“In particular, we mean stolen and cut and edited episodes from the march in memory of the victims of 200 years of the occupation of Bessarabia. The march was organized on May 13, 2012 by the Tiras-Tighina Association by joint effort with the National Liberal Party, the Romanian National Party of Moldova, the Association Tineretul National-Crestin, and the Democratic Forum of the Romanians of Moldova”, said the Tiras-Tighina leader.

In his words, the march organizers invited Mihai Ghimpu and his nephew, Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca to take part in that event, but they refused to, “but now they are using that event as their own achievement in their parliamentary campaign”.

Caraman voiced strong dissatisfaction that Mihai Ghimpu talks different things in Bucharest and in Chisinau concerning the Marea Unire [unification of Bessarabia and Romania in 1918].

“To Romanian officials, Ghimpu lies that he is an advocate of the reunification of the country [Moldova + Romania], whereas in Chisinau he maintains in his numerous interviews that there will be no unification. In the other hand, in several documentaries Ghidighici and Chirtoaca make unification statements against the background of events they have no relation to whatsoever. Ghimpu and Chirtoaca are plagiarists of ideas and profiteers speculating on other people’s labor”, said Caraman.

He also said that when Acting President of Moldova, Mihai Ghimpu awarded the high rank of generals to people who did not deserve that, including to former Deputy Minister of the Interior Iurie Captaanaru and to colonels Iurie Bodorin and Vasile Dragomir.

Solidaritate association Chairman Victor Zugravu stated that with his actions, Mihai Ghimpu has desecrate the very ideals of the unification, for which so many people have been struggling last 2 decades.

Transnistrian war veteran Sergiu Tataru stated that Ghimpu and Chirtoaca have come into power with the help of deceit, “and they will surely continue practicing lies in their activities”.

“Ghimpu is a second Rosca [Iurie Rosca is the founder and many-year leader of the Christian Democratic Popular Party until recently and currently the CDPP Honorable Chairman], who has buried the Marea Unire. Both Ghimpu and his high-ranked nephew must disappear from the Moldovan political arena and must stand responsibility for their lawlessness”, said Tataru.

Mihai Ghimpu has not yet responded to Infotag correspondent’s telephone calls to comment the accusations put forward by the veterans.
