ONE MORE ANTI-CORRUPTION ORGANIZATION APPEARED IN MOLDOVA

Association “Against Corruption” has been created in Moldova, aimed at combating this evil in society, especially in the top echelons of power.

Vladimir Maiduc, Chairman of the organization, said at the Wednesday press conference that he had worked 24 years in the criminal police and he knows for sure that “there is no ministry or department without corruption in Moldova”. “In Moldova there is no field free of corruption, starting from healthcare and education to judicial system, police and penitentiary system. Fighting corruption is difficult, but necessary”, said Maiduc.

According to him, the Association disposes of many facts of corruption with participation of power agencies, the National Anti-Corruption Center (NACC), the Prosecutor General’s Office. “It is difficult do disclose fraudulent schemes with participation of different state bodies. Working many years in the Ministry of the Interior (MoI), my last position being Head of the service for internal security and fighting against corruption”, I am informed very well about what happens in the echelons of power.

Thus, next week we will provide facts of embezzlements, cases of corruption and other violations, committed by state officials”, promised Maiduc. Deputy Chairman Valeriu Bobutac said that among the organization’s objectives are: protection of citizens, who suffered from corruption, development of social activity, carrying out of actions on informing about fight against this evil. “We are planning to have at least one representative in each raion, to protect citizens from corruption”, said he.

Association representative Radu Soltan said that “on the first sight, it may seem that detection of acts of corruption is a blow to one or another party”. “However, we do not intend to spoil the image of parties, but to identify corrupt officials regardless of their party affiliation. We just want that Moldova to continue its way towards European integration without such people”, said Soltan. Member of the Association Albert Puiu explained that he decided to join the association because it is difficult to fight corruption alone. “I had worked in the penitentiary system for many years and I got convinced that fighting corruption in this institution is just like fighting windmills.

All the investigations are delayed, cases are closed. I am sure that together we will achieve results in combating corruption”, stressed he. Members of the association encouraged citizens to report about acts of corruption and fight it together.
