VASILE TARLEV TOPS VOZROJDENIE-RENASTERE TICKET

03 octomber, 2014
VASILE TARLEV TOPS VOZROJDENIE-RENASTERE TICKET Former Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev has headed the electoral ticket of the Vozrojdenie-Renastere [Revival] Party. The decision was unanimously adopted at the party’s National Council meeting last week, party leader MP Vadim Mishin told a news conference.

“Political parties in Moldova should be headed by ethnic Moldovans. This is normal and natural”, said Mishin, noting that he took the second place in the list. The top five included Oleg Babenko, Tatiana Botnariuc and Alexandru Saban.

The politician explained that the decision to go independently for parliamentary elections was preceded by negotiations with the major left-wing parties about the possibility of creating a block.

“The Moldovan Communist Party didn’t even answer. We had several meetings with Igor Dodon, Party of Socialists leader, but we didn’t find understanding. We also talked with Bashkan [Governor] of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal. I think that all abovementioned left-wing parties and Vozrojdenie-Renastere Party have equal great chances to pass into the Parliament. All other left parties the “Patriots of Moldova” and the Social Democratic Party will not get into the Parliament. But the need for a broad coalition is obvious for us. Unfortunately, we were not heard”, said Mishin.

“Perhaps, we are the only party that is built according to the classical system as the MCP is. We have individual records of membership and offices in 42 raions, 80% of villages have primary parties. At the beginning of October the number of party members was 11480 people. We realize that there is a necessary agitation work for the population to vote in favour of Vozrojdenie-Renastere Party and we will do this job as well”, said Mishin.

He formulated party’s objectives as the struggle for the social state, for minority rights, and voted against immediate denunciation of the EU-RM Association Agreement.

Mishin noted that Moldova became firmly on the path of European integration, but at the same time it is necessary to follow the republic’s neutrality, strongly advocating for the strengthening relations with Russia and CIS countries.
