A former member of the Moldovan Communist Party Central Committee, deputy of the Moldovan Parliament Grigore Petrenco believes that the Communist Party Chairman and ex-president of Moldova Vladimir Voronin must be sent to prison – together with oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, who has entered into collusion with him.

 

Speaking at a news conference at Infotag today, Petrenco said that it is really a tragedy for the nation to see that once mighty and active an organization, which is still able to take power at the 2014 elections, is getting downgraded into an obedient, pro-oligarchic pocket party, and the most tragic thing in all this is that the party was sacrificed to Plahotniuc by chairman Voronin himself.

 

Petrenco believes that the expulsion of him, of Mark Tkachuk, Iurie Muntean and a number of other young and talented MCP parliamentarians from the MCP ticket can mean only one thing: elimination of the active politicians from somebody’s way.

 

He drew attention to an obvious fact: the country’s main opposition party is not undertaking whatever pre-election actions – neither electoral leaflets, nor billboards, or electoral actions of protest or rallies or meetings with voters – no canvassing absolutely in whatever form.

 

“Voronin feels comfortable by staying in the honorable opposition. This is really cozy. He is surrounded by “Plahotniuc’s influence group” – MPs Artur Resetnicov, Oleg Reidman and Vladimir Vitiuc. In the top section of the MCP ticket, you can find lawyer Vitalie Pirlog, whom Plahotniuc tried recently to place into the chair of Prosecutor General. By acting so, Voronin is betraying not only MCP members but the still numerous Communist electorate”, believes Grigore Petrenco, who is a Deputy Chairperson of the Unified European Left group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

 

He emphasized twice, “I am ashamed to look into citizens’ eyes when they ask me what is happening to the Communists”.

 

…AND EXPLAINS HIS CHOICE OF PATRIA TICKET

 

A MCP Central Committee member until very recently, MP Grigore Petrenco agreed to be included into the Patria Party ticket for the November 30, 2014 parliamentary elections.

 

Petrenco told the news conference at Infotag today that he had suspended his MCP membership, but will necessarily come back into the organization “when it gets cleansed of casual personalities”.

 

He explained his agreement to run for parliament with his strong wish to combat against oligarchic groups as a whole and particularly against oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc.

 

“All these years – starting from huge-scale machinations with financial flows, undeclared property and a quest for Plahotniuc through the Interpol and finishing with the loud murder in Padurea Domneasca national park – we have been saying who this Plahotniuc personality is. He must be placed where he really belongs – a jail”, stated Grigore Petrenco.

 

He believes that this is possible to achieve with Renato Usatii team.

 

“Renato is a brave and resolute man. He has already declared that there will be no alliance in whatever form with the parties of Filat’s and Plahotniuc’s – before the elections or after. I am sure that Patria Party is able to win up to 20% mandates in the new Parliament”, said Petrenco.
