PRO-MOLDOVA HISTORIANS CALL ON CITIZENS TO VOTE FOR SOCIALISTS

25 november, 2014
PRO-MOLDOVA HISTORIANS CALL ON CITIZENS TO VOTE FOR SOCIALISTS A group of Moldovan historians has appealed to citizens calling them to vote next Sunday for the Party of Socialists (PSRM) headed by MP Igor Dodon and against the incumbent governing coalition consisting of the Liberal Democratic Party, Democratic Party and Liberal Reformist Party.

Sergiu Nazaria, Chairman of the Pro Moldova Association of Historians and Political Scientists, stated at a news conference at Infotag today that the ruling elite, struggling for its selfish, narrow group interests, is in fact ruining the statehood of the Republic of Moldova.

In his words, to achieve their unseemly goals, the rulers use the mass media, courts, power structures of the state, and even certain social groups such as Transnistrian armed conflict combatants.

“Despite their efforts, all recent opinion polls, open or covert, are demonstrating one invariable trend: the popularity rating of the governing parties is steadily falling. Citizens don't trust the rulers, and there are reasons for this. The embodiment of all these negative processes is indeed the Democratic Party. So we are calling on compatriots not to vote for the Democrats under whatever circumstances, as this is an organization of compradors and enemies to Moldova and to its citizens”, said the historian.

Sergiu Nazaria believes that the only worthy alternative to the Democratic Party is the Party of Socialists.

“I am substantiating my stance with the following three moments. The Socialists stand for the Moldovan identity and for preserving the statehood of the Republic of Moldova, and are against the republic’s absorption by Romania. The Socialists stand for restoration to a full extent of our centuries-long ties with Russia and for subsequent rehabilitation of the Moldovan economy, as well as for peace and harmony between ethnic groups. The Socialists maintain that all citizens, no matter their ethnicity or social status, are equal before the law”, said the Pro-Moldova Chairman.

Sergiu Nazaria was backed by historian Piotr Shornikov, a twice deputy of the Moldovan Parliament. “The Moldovan ruling class has lost ability to think about and act in the interest of the Moldovan population and the Moldovan state. Their children, money, souls and thoughts are in the West. For every move and every step to make, they wait for a signal – and often even a peremptory cry – from the West. I can’t see and don't believe that our authorities are capable of anything else except acting by foreign orders”, believes Shornikov.

He said that the Party of Socialists is an organization of skilled specialists, experienced economists etc. able to achieve breakthrough solutions in the production domain.

“No one has the right to kill the national economy. Unfortunately, last 4-5 years abode in such attempts. As for the Socialists, I cannot remember even a single example of attacks against the top personality on the PSRM ticket – former Prime Minister of Moldova Zinaida Grechanaya. She is a genuine professional. Her colleague – Party Chairman Igor Dodon has worked as Minister of Economy for several years. The Party of Socialists has a real team able and wishing to work in the interests of Moldova, not in the interests of the neighboring country or overseas masters”, said the historian.
