COMING ELECTIONS ARE ALREADY FALSIFIED - ANTIMAFIA

28 november, 2014
COMING ELECTIONS ARE ALREADY FALSIFIED - ANTIMAFIA If parliamentary elections on April 5, 2009 were falsified in the voting day, then the forthcoming elections on November 30 have been rigged already during the election campaign, said Nicolae Raileanu, Antimafia movement representative in the Central Election Commission (CEC).

He said at the Thursday’s news conference at Infotag that falsification of votes will not be possible in the Election Day now the CEC has bought transparent ballot boxes and voting booths.

“This year the falsification of votes is being carried out in another way. According to the Election Code, all the candidates have equal right for objective covering of their campaign in media. But TV channels were favoring only their owners and were intensively showing them cutting symbolic ribbons and engaging in charitable actions. Though during campaign are prohibited any donations, the DP representative Vlad Plahotniuc handed over to a young man 100 thousand lei and this video was broadcasted by the politician’s TV channels 4-5 times a day”, said he, adding that nobody reacted to these violations.

Raileanu also noted that during the current election campaign parties from the ruling coalition have widely used administrative resources and instruments.

“For example DP and LDPM got heated rooms for meetings with electorate, while contracts of the facilities’ rent have not been signed, violating the Election Code. In many localities, nobody except these two election candidates had the right to conduct meetings with electorate. Moreover, ruling parties have conducted numerous meetings with voters in the working time, using administrative resources”, said Raileanu.

According to him, falsification of elections can also be seen in an excessively large number of voters, included in election lists.

“If at 2005 elections there were 2.27 million electors, then this year election lists have 1 million more electors. Where this figure came from, if the birth rate in Moldova keeps falling from year to year? This fact raises many questions and suspicions that election results will be falsified”, said Raileanu.

He considers the current election campaign “the dirtiest one” and is sure that this fact will be mentioned in reports of foreign observers.

The Antimafia representative noted that by his statements he does not intend to campaign for one or another party, but calls the electorate to draw corresponding conclusions and vote as dictated by conscience.
