EXPERT AND BUSINESSMAN COMPLAIN ABOUT PROSECUTORS’ ACTIONS IN BEM CASE

14 january, 2015
EXPERT AND BUSINESSMAN COMPLAIN ABOUT PROSECUTORS’ ACTIONS IN BEM CASE Expert Igor Caldare and businessman Denis Ureche are complaining about the Prosecutor general’s Office, which, in their point of view, does not investigate cases, linked to money withdrawal from the Banca de Economii (BEM, Moldova’s savings bank).

At the Wednesday’s news conference at Infotag they presented facts, which, according to them, prove the prosecutors’ reluctance to interrogate witnesses.

Ureche told that the Prosecutor General Corneliu Gurin signed a decree, which provides that all the cases, linked to companies, which got credits in BEM and did not repay them, are investigated by the Anticorruption prosecutors’ office.

“We seek for a meeting with Gurin, but he redirects us to other prosecutors, who are not interested in investigating these cases”, noted Ureche.

News conference organizers drew attention to an opened conflict of interest, allowed by the Prosecutor General’s Office. According to them, the case against companies Alexus Plus and Glamedcom, which took from the BEM 1.2 million euros and 42.5 million lei, respectively, is conducted by the prosecutor Vasile Morosan.

“He is son-in-law to Ion Lambantu, who is related to unimpeded access to getting credits from banks, being married to Lambantu’s daughter, who is target of the investigation against Glamedcom company. Administrator and owner of the Alexux Plus company is Alexei Gorincioi, who is married to Lambantu’s second daughter”, said Ureche, wondering how can the Prosecutors’ Office allow such things.

Caldare said that “the appointment of Gurin as Prosecutor General was a mistake, because he does not justify the trust”, adding that prosecutor Gurin’s father is a judge, the fact that also can be interpreted as a conflict of interest.

“Maybe the Prosecutor General does not know, what is a conflict of interest and what importance has the BEM for Moldova’s banking system?”, asked he.

Ureche and Caldare said that soon, they intend to disclose to the press names of other people, who, in their opinion, are ultimate beneficiaries from the credits worth hundreds of thousands of lei, unpaid to BEM.
