26 january, 2015
20% OF MOLDOVANS DO NOT KNOW FOR WHICH PARTY TO VOTE AT LOCAL ELECTIONS If local elections were held in Moldova, one of four Moldovan citizens would not know for which party to give his vote, shows the opinion poll “Vox Populi: 2014 in perception of Moldovan citizens”, conducted by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers on January 8-20 among 1171 respondents from 79 localities. The level of error is of ±3%.

At the Monday’s news conference at Infotag, Chairman of the Association Victor Mocanu said that this is a very high level of uncertainty, which proves the unstable political situation in Moldova.

The poll proved that in case of electing local councilors, 16.3% would vote for the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (LDPM), 15.1% - for the Moldovan Socialists Party (PSRM), 10.8% - for the Democratic Party of Moldova (DP), 9.5% - for the Moldovan Communist Party (MCP), 5.6% - for the Patria Party.

Sociologists also conducted a separate survey in Chisinau among 410 respondents. In the capital city the PSRM is leading, for which 18.4% would vote. After it come the LDPM – 16.3%, LP – 15.6%, MCP – 8.9%, DP – 8.2, Patria – 4.8%.

IURIE LEANCA WOULD WIN NATIONAL PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS – VOX POPULI

If national presidential elections were conducted, current Prime Minister Iurie Leanca would have won most of votes – 14.3%, say the results of the opinion poll “Vox Populi: 2014 in perception of Moldovan citizens”, conducted by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers on January 8-20 among 1171 respondents from 79 Moldovan localities.

Head of the Association Victor Mocanu said at the Monday’s news conference at Infotag that on the second place is Socialists’ leader Igor Dodon, for whom 13.4% of people are ready to vote. After him comes Democratic Part (DP) leader Marian Lupu – 12.2%, Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (LDPM) Chairman Vlad Filat – 11.3%, Communist leader Vladimir Voronin – 10.1%, Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca – 9.9%. For the current head of the state Nicolae Timofti only 2.4% of electors would vote.

Almost one half of the interviewees (46.8%) do not see any worthy candidature among Moldova’s politicians. This is an extremely disturbing signal for the country’s political class, says the sociologist.

The LDPM is the most trusted by the electorate - 42% of people are ready to vote for this party. Then come Moldovan Socialists Party (PSRM) – 36%, DP – 34.5%, MCP – 30%, Liberal Party (LP) – 25%, Patria – 21%.

Among politicians mostly trusted by people is Iurie Leanca – 14.9%. Filat has 11.8%, Lupu – 10.6%, Socialists leader Igor Dodon – 10.2%, Vladimir Voronin – 9.4%, Chirtoaca – 9%, LP leader Mihai Ghimpu – 8.2%, businessman Renato Usatii – 6.6%.

Moraru also noted that if previously the MCP and its leader were trusted by the most part of electors – supporters of left forces, now the situation has changed.

In the right-wing forces are dominated by the LDPM and its leaders Vlad Filat and Iurie Leanca, while in the left wing – PSRM, headed by Igor Dodon and Zinaida Grechanaya, said he.
