18 february, 2015
TWO OF EVERY THREE MOLDOVANS BELIEVE THEIR COUNTRY IS MOVING IN WRONG DIRECTION Nearly 70% Moldova citizens think that their country is moving in a wrong direction, and only 17% – that things in the republic are developing all right, as per the results of the Omnibus opinion research done by the CBS-AXA Center for Sociological Researches and Marketing and presented at a news conference at Infotag on Tuesday.

The poll was carried out on January 25 through February 5 among 1,497 adult citizens residing permanently in 101 various-type populated areas in 12 raions [districts] of Moldova. The pollsters are saying that error should not exceed ±2.6%.

CBS-AXA Director Ion Jigau said that the number of citizens discontented with the state of things in the country was slightly higher than this only in April 2013, when an acute-most political crisis broke out in Moldova.

Merely 4.1% citizens are satisfied with the current economic situation in the republic, and 11.6% perceive it neutrally. At the same time, 34.7% said they are “quite discontented”, and 48.2% – “absolutely discontented”. Like in the case with the country’s development direction, the 4.1% of contented respondents is the lowest figure since April 2013.

Fewer than 20% stated they liked their living standards, about 25% neither liked nor disliked, 28.7% were “not quite satisfied”, and 25.6% absolutely dislike their wellbeing level.
