11 march, 2015
CATALOG OF COMPANIES WITH FOREIGN CAPITAL PUBLISHED IN MOLDOVA A Catalog of companies with German, Austrian, Swiss and Liechtenstein capital in RM was for the first time published in Moldova, being developed by the public association of Moldovan-German Economic Cooperation with the assistance of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Chairwoman of the association Iuliana Solonaru said during Wednesday’s news conference at Infotag that the catalog includes information on 103 of 346 companies registered in Moldova.

She explained this by the fact that one-third of companies do not work or have recently registered and did not manage to develop their business, while a part of companies just did not want that information about them to be made public.

Representative of the German Embassy to Moldova Thomas Weithöner said that the developed catalog will allow those interested to find out more about companies with foreign capital, which are conducting their business activity in the country, as well as it will allow to attract more investments.

Answering to the journalists’ questions about how the minority government of Moldova may influence the development of companies with foreign investments in Moldova, Weithöner said that the presence of minority of majority government in the country will have no impact upon the development of companies and businesses with foreign capital.

Director of the Moldovan Investment and Export Promotion Organization (MIEPO) Dona Scola added that the stability of foreign companies does not depend on the Moldovan government, while corruption is a common problem.

According to her, the developed catalog is very important, as it will allow promoting the companies’ products and develop relations with other economic agents, as well as raising the country’s exporting potential.

MIEPO is interested in increasing the number of foreign investors in Moldova, but for this many negotiations should yet be conducted, said Scola.

She noted that over the last 4 years, Germany became one of leaders in investments in Moldova and supports its European way.

Scola expressed hope that the next catalog will be larger and more demanded.

Press conference participants noted that the sum, spent for publishing the catalog is not big, adding that it will be distributed to al Moldovan institutions.
