The independent candidate for the post of Gagauzia Bashkan [governor] Serghei Cernev accused his competitor in elections Irina Vlah and the outgoing Head of the autonomy Mikhail Formuzal of destabilizing situation in the south of the Republic of Moldova.

 

During Friday’s news conference at Infotag he repeated the already voiced accusations against Formuzal.

 

“These are: embezzlement of state funds and of humanitarian aid, boosting of the executive committee at the expense of the so called “dead souls” – non-existing persons. The bashkan is currently target of criminal cases on inciting national hatred and state property embezzlement”, reminded Cernev.

 

He maintains that fearing criminal prosecution and sentencing in the nearest future, Formuzal went to cooperate with Vlah, who promised that becoming Bashkan, she will cover him.

 

“What do we have as a result? At latter meetings of the Executive Committee, Formuzal states that the Moldovan Government prevents the supplying to the autonomy of natural gas for low-income Gagauzia citizens. He called blatant the farmers failure to obtain subsidies for agriculture works. Even the recent leu decline Formuzal linked mainly to the Moldovan central authorities’ activity, though we can see a collapse of national currencies of the CIS countries. What Formuzal and Vlah intend to do? From my point of view, they aim at realizing the Ukrainian scenario in the south of Moldova, at putting the center and the region at the loggerheads”, said Cernev.

 

He said that Vlah already started gathering members of her team, even without waiting for the election results.

 

“There is a place in this team for Formuzal as well. It is assumed that the post of the Executive Committee Chairman will be freed by means of changing the autonomy legislation. Namely this position will allegedly be proposed to Formuzal. Also, among those, who will be brought by Irina Vlah is her cousin Mihail Vlah (who was previously arrested and spent a time in a psychiatric clinic). He will head the Gagauzia Television and Radio state company. For the post of the First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee Roman Tiunin is proposed, against whom a criminal case was on hooliganism started in 2010. Another relative of Irina Vlah – Serghei, sentenced for attacking a taxi driver in Chisinau, will be conducting the financial department of the autonomy. And these are just some of persons, who will ensure a “happy future” for the region’s population”, said Cernev.

 

He called Gagauz people to be attentive on the Election Day on March 22 and vote for the candidate, who would be able to ensure stability and interethnic peace in the autonomy.
