MOLDOVANS REGARD RM POLICY AS WRONG, BUT HOPE FOR THE BEST Moldovan citizens regard the state policy as wrong, but hope for changes to better, showed the opinion poll “Local elections and administrative reforms”, conducted by the Moldovan Association of Sociologists and Demographers, the results of which were presented during Wednesday’s news conference at Infotag.

 

Deputy President of the Association Andrei Dumbraveanu said that 66% respondents believe that events in the country develop in wrong direction, 17% - in right direction, while 17% people found it difficult to answer.

 

“The poll showed that 58% interviewees are negatively assessing changes in combating corruption over the last two years, 53% are negative about results in Transnistrian conflict settlement, 47% - in internal policy, 43% - in country’s economic situation”, said Dumbraveanu.

 

According to the poll, 39% interviewees think that the situation improved in education, 34% - in culture, 29% - in science, 23% - in external policy. Around 51% respondents said that life in their locality improved in comparison to what was 5 years ago, 15% said the situation improved, while 31% did not notice any changes.

 

“According to the poll, 55% people think economic situation in the country worsened over the last few years, 12% think it improved, while 29% - that no changes occurred in it”, said Dumbraveanu.

 

According to him, 59% interviewees are not satisfied with their living and only 13% are happy with their life. 22% said their earnings are not enough even for the most basic needs, 37% are coping with the situation and only 9% can allow themselves buying expensive goods.

 

“With all this, 34% are sure that life will change to better. The society thinks that the country goes wrong way, but they hope that in future changes to better are possible”, said the sociologist.

 

Opinion poll was conducted in the period of April 1-12. It covered 1.1 thousand people from 79 Moldovan localities. Error rate is ± 3%.
