OHM PARTY WILL BE RENAMED INTO “RED FRONT”

22 april, 2015
OHM PARTY WILL BE RENAMED INTO “RED FRONT” “Our Home is Moldova” (OHM) party is preparing to its extraordinary congress, at which its Charter and Program will be amended, and its name will be changed into “Red Front”, party chairman Grigore Petrenco, a member of the previous Parliament, stated at a news conference in Infotag.

In his words, the party will be representing the interests of those citizens who have got disappointed with the policy of and behavior by the Moldovan Communist Party (MCP), “which has entered into collusion with Moldovan oligarchs and has thus ceased to be an opposition force”.

“The present-day MCP and its leaders have nothing to do with the Left idea, or with Marxist philosophy, or the building of a society of social justice. The parliamentary MCP faction realizes that it is their last term of office, so their will be further voting with their political enemies until very recently – with the Liberal Democrats and Democrats. The MCP leaders have betrayed their rank and file party comrades, MCP supporters and the Communist electorate, whose election votes were simply cashed by a handful of party rulers. No wonder party members in the localities are quitting the organization massively”, said Grigore Petrenco.

“The Moldovan people need to have a real opposition party, so we are going to hold an extraordinary congress on May 10 to introduce amendments to the party’s Charter and Program and to rename our organization so that to make it more in correspondence with the present-day conditions the country is in. The Red Front does not mean we are going to take arms in hands and go to war. No, a front means people’s unification around common ideas and objectives”, said MCP ex-member Grigore Petrenco.

A former member of the MCP Central Committee, incumbent Secretary General of the European Network of Democratic Young Left (ENDYL) Alexander Rosco said he had been expelled from the Communist Party for his criticizing the MCP leadership “who are conducting an erroneous policy”.

“I spoke strongly against the discharging of parliamentarians Mark Tkachuk, Grigore Petrenco and Iurie Muntean from high party posts and against their subsequent expulsion from the party. I criticized the personified slogan the party leadership had chosen for the November 30 elections – “Only the MCP! Only Voronin!” I was not at all surprised with the party’s poor election result. But a real ‘news of the day’ was that the people who were concretely responsible for the MCP election failure did not only remain in the party but were even promoted to higher posts – of MCP Executive Secretary (Artur Resetnicov) and of the chairperson of the parliamentary MCP faction (Violetta Ivanova). Also, I voted against supporting the minority government of Chiril Gaburici. One of the MCP celebrities stated to the press then that the Communists were ready to put their helping shoulder to the authorities. How can a real Communist offer his shoulder to NATO advocate Viorel Cibotaru and appoint him as minister of defense? Or how can one vote for appointing Maia Sandu, a symbol of anti-youth policy, as minister of education?” wondered Alexander Rosco.
