08 may, 2015
DA CIVIL PLATFORM CALLS TO CONSOLIDATION… The Civil Platform “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”] has called to consolidation of the Moldovan civil society in its struggle against the corrupt authorities.

The DA initiative group organized a news conference at Infotag on Friday, at which they expressed gratitude to all those people who took part in the massive rally of protest that was held in the Chisinau's central square on May 3 and that gathered nearly 50 thousand citizens.

One of the DA leaders, Chairman of the Association for Participatory Democracy (ADEPT) Dr. Igor Botan said: “We realize that after such a huge action, we are bearing a gigantic responsibility before compatriots who trust us and are supporting us. We have given them hope that by acting together it is possible to overthrow the current corrupt government. We have no right to betray the hope. So we are calling on all citizens to consolidation and cooperation because all ethnic groups in Moldova are equally suffering of the corrupt rulers”.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Valentin Dolganiuc, a member of Moldova’s first Parliament, stated that by defending their selfish, mercenary interests, the incumbent country rulers have discredited the very idea of European integration.

“With their stealing, they have set fire to the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. As a result, doors to the European Union have been shut for Moldova for many years. We must return the European hope to our citizens. Without it, life will be meaningless”, stated Dolganiuc.

Answering journalists’ questions concerning the invitation he had received from Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici – to take the post of a prime ministerial adviser, Igor Botan said, “I pay tribute to Gaburici’s sense of humor”.

“I don't know whose idea it was – his or his surrounding’s. I want to tell them that I am already an old guy in politics and I cannot be amused with such flattering offers. We stand ready to cooperate with the prime minister, and I am ready to give him advice if he needs. For the beginning, I can offer him the manifesto that was adopted last Sunday at the DA-organized rally. If Gaburici is really ready for cooperation, he should start from fulfilling what is written in the document”, said Igor Botan.

…AND INTENDS TO PREPARE ALTERNATIVE REPORT ON BANKING SECTOR SITUATION

Civic Platform “Dreptate si Adevar” (DA) is going to prepare its own report on situation in the banking sphere, announced its representatives at Infotag on Friday.

“We have carefully studied the Kroll Report and many other documents and we have something to say concerning this issue. We are going to comment on each paragraph: which state institution is guilty of one or another violation and who should be prosecuted. Besides, the customer of this document – the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) – restricted the investigation just to the period of June 2012-November 2014, while the stealing started much earlier and this period should also be studied”, said Igor Botan.

Commenting on Thursday’s parliamentary hearings on the situation in banking sector, lawyer Andrei Nastase said that within officials and state institutions’ heads recognized their involvement in this theft.

“All of them were taking concerted actions, being managed from a single location”, Nastase said.

“This center is called the Council of the Ruling Coalition Heads. After hearings, the Parliament came to a conclusion that the theft from banks was a fair deal”, added Igor Botan.

As for terms of presenting the alternative report on banks, leaders of the platform expressed hope they will manage to prepare the report more quickly that the Kroll Agency, to which it took 2 months for investigating.
