PATRIA CALLS ON CITIZENS NOT TO VOTE FOR RIGHT-WING PARTIES

14 may, 2015
PATRIA CALLS ON CITIZENS NOT TO VOTE FOR RIGHT-WING PARTIES The Patria Party calls on citizens not to vote for pro-European right parties and thus not to let them remain in power. Such statement was made by the party leadership at a news conference at Infotag today.

Party Chairman Emil Ciobu said that presently the authorities are weak as never before, so it is necessary “to use all possible legal means to make this power fall. The Patria leadership is sure that the June 14 local elections will be followed – very soon – by an early parliamentary election”.

Ex-diplomat Emil Ciobu reminded that Patria was unlawfully withdrawn from the November 30 parliamentary election campaign by the ruling pro-European coalition – only 3 days before voting, and “as a result, tens of thousand Patria supporters were deprive of their constitutional right to vote for the political force they had chosen”.

“In addition, the authorities organized mass-scale rigging of the election results, and that permitted the criminal coalition to remain in power. Furthermore, after the elections, Patria leaders and activists were subjected to an avalanche of repressions”, said Emil Ciobu.

The former Moldovan Ambassador to Romania stressed that on the basis of the accusations fabricated by the Ministry of the Interior – that Patria allegedly used illegally-received foreign money in the election campaign, the Chisinau Appeals Court ruled to deregister the party as a runner for parliament and to fine it 8.1 million lei.

“We have challenged that verdict with the European Court of Human Rights. We are sure it will restore justice and we will thus enjoy the truth. Unfortunately, we can’t take part in the June 14 local elections”, said the chairman.

“Currently, we are concentrating our efforts on the organizational consolidation of our party and on broadening its ranks. We are calling on citizens not to vote for the ruling parties that have stolen a billion euros from citizens’ pockets”, stated the Patria leader.

Emil Ciobu indicated the main task the country’s healthy political forces should focus on – consolidation and winning the power in the localities.

“Moldova’s patriotic forces, parties and non-governmental organizations have managed to get united into a public council named “For the Motherland!” and to worthily celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Victory over the Nazi in the Great Patriotic War. This experience of society consolidation needs to be efficiently used in political activities as well”, said Emil Ciobu.

Closer to June 14, the Patria leadership will determine for party members and supporters a concrete position on whom to vote for.
