FIVE SMALL CANNERIES ASK GOVERNMENT TO PAY INTEREST RATES ON CREDITS INSTEAD OF THEM Five small canning factories ask for help from the Government in order to avoid stopping of production.

During Monday’s news conference at Infotag, director of the canning company Fortuna Plus (Criuleni raion) Ilie Vainrub said that the annual average of the governmental help accounts for approximately 10 million lei.

“We are asking to pay just interest rates on credits we owe to banks, while the very credits we are able to cover by ourselves”, Vainrub explained.

Manager of the enterprise spoke with gratitude about Moldova Agroindbank (MAIB).

“This bank found an opportunity to help our enterprise. Chairman of the MAIB Board Sergiu Cebotari resorted to restructuring of the accounts payable for us”, he said.

Participants at the press conference said their situation was aggravated by the fact that there are a lot of ready goods at warehouses that are difficult to sell.

“It was produced at contracts and orders of Russian partners, but now we can not send it to Russia”, Vainrub said.

Managers of canneries told that in December, Deputy President of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) Marin Molosag in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova proposed to prepare documents for receiving credits.

“We were said that for NBM it is easy to allocate 1 billion lei (500 million lei – for winemakers and 500 million lei – for canning factories), but when we prepared everything, we received a categorical refusal”, Vainrub told.

Manager of Fortuna Plus said that the plant has recently sent the first container with canned food to Dubai.

“If Saudi Arabia consumers like its taste quality, we will be able to sell the canned food there in large amounts, the fact that can considerably improve the plant’s financial condition”, Vainrub told.

Answering to the question about the period on which the plants ask the Government to cover their interest rates on credit, Vainrub said that the maximum is for 2 years, but they would be grateful for 1.5 years also.
