01 june, 2015
MOLDOVAN PENSIONERS UNION DEMANDS IMPROVING LEGISLATION The Union of Moldovan pensioners demand authorities to improve the legislation, in particular in what concerns pensions.

Chairman of the Union Victor Leanca said during Monday’s news conference at Infotag that currently, only 15% Moldovan pensioners are ensured with decent pensions.

According to him, the problem with payment of pensions and dividends on shares has been repeatedly discussed in the Government and the Parliament of Moldova, but the situation did not changed.

“According to the Law on joint-stock companies, if people were not receiving dividends for three years for some reasons, this money is not returned to them. This is unfair. We regard as necessary to change the law so that in case a person did not receive dividends within a year, this money would be transmitted to the Union for further distribution, which will be carried out by means of specialized centers”, Leanca said.

Chairman of the Union of pensioners from Ciorescu village Ion Tverdohleb said that the average pension of people in villages is of 600-800 lei, which is considerably lower that the country’s average.

He said that authorities create such conditions that it becomes difficult to live not only for pensioners, but also for the youth, who do not have jobs.

Chairman of the Union of pensioners-writers of Moldova Vlad Zbirciog said he addressed to authorities with the demand to raise pensions to those people, who are receiving less than 1 thousand lei, but was replied that it is not possible so far.

News conference participants called pensioners to come to the protest of the Civil Platform “Demnitate si Adevar” [Dignity and Justice], who according to them do not engage in politics but stand for citizens’ rights protection.

They hope that authorities will hear their demands and will adopt necessary amendments to the legislation.
