MOLDOVANS SAY THEY DO NOT BELIEVE IN GABURICI’S GOVERNMENT… Moldovan citizens are dissatisfied with the state of affairs in the country and do not believe that the Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici’s Government can change the situation to better. These are the results of the poll “Sociopolitical preferences of voters on the eve of 2015 local elections”, presented by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova. The poll was conducted within the period of May 20-30 among 1593 Moldovan citizens. The rate of error is of ± 2.8%.

 

Chairman of the Association Victor Mocanu said during Thursday’s news conference at Infotag that according to the poll three-fours of the respondents believe that the state of affairs in the country go wrong direction, 16% - right direction, 8% - do not know. 61% of interviewees are dissatisfied by living standards in Moldova, 15% - more or less satisfied, while 23% found it difficult to answer.

 

At the question about the political situation in the country, 12% respondents said that it improved over 5 years, 60% said it worsened, while 24% did not observe any changes. 61% interviewees believe that over the last 5 years the economic situation worsened and only 15% - that it became better, while 21% said it did not change.

 

“The results of the poll demonstrate the fact that people do not see changes to better. At the question about what people think about the Gaburici’s Government, 23% said that under its rule the situation in the country changes to better, 67% were skeptical about the new Cabinet of Ministers, while 11% found it difficult to answer to this question”, Mocanu said.

 

… AND THAT GRECHANAYA AND DORIN CHIRTOACA WILL GET TO SECOND ROUND OF ELECTIONS

 

Had local elections taken place next weekend, candidate of PSRM Zinaida Grechanaya (26.4%) and PL candidate Dorin Chirtoaca (24.3%) would have gotten into the second round in Chisinau, show the results of the poll, conducted among 1042 Chisinau citizens. The rate of error is of ± 2.8%

 

Victor Mocanu said that according to the results, 5.6% of electors are ready to give their votes for Oazu Nantoi, 4.1% - for Serafim Urechean, 3.9% for Mihail Carlig, 3.8% - for Oleg Brega, 3.6% - for Ilian Casu, 3.1% - for Vasile Chirtoca. According to the previous poll, conducted within May 10-16, Chirtoaca would have gotten 20.7% votes, while Grechanaya – 17.8%.

 

As for election to the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), for representatives of the PSRM 28.6% people would have voted, for LP – 18.4%, for the "European People’s Platform of Moldova (EPPM) – Iurie Leanca" – 9.8%, for Partidul Nostru [Our Party] – 7.1%, LDPM – 5.3%, MCP – 5.2%, DP – 4.1%, Moldovan People’s Party (MPP) – 3.4%.

 

At the question why electors are ready to vote for certain candidate, 21.8% said that it is because the candidate chosen by them is working more than anyone; 19.2% - because the candidate is a person of a word and action, who knows city’s problems; 17.9% because it is an intelligent candidate with higher education; 16.7% - honest and brave mayor. Besides, 9.6% are ready to vote for the one who fights for Romanization, 8.5% - for a representative of the civil society, 6.3% - for the one, who will be supported by Russians.

 

Among all the Moldovan politicians, people trust Socialist Party Chairman Igor Dodon most, while President Nicolae Timofti – the least - 1%. Chairman of the EPPM-Iurie Leanca is trusted by 19% respondents, MCP Leader Vladimir Voronin – 10%, Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca – 9%, Our Party Leader Renato Usatii – 8%, Zinaida Grechanaya – 6%, Parliament Speaker Adrian Candu – 6%, DPM and LDPM leaders Marian Lupu and Vlad Filat – 5% each, LP Chairman Mihai Ghimpu – 4%, Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici – 2%.

 

Among parties, the PSRM is trusted most – 33%, the LP – 28%, MCP – 26%, LDPM and Our Party – 18% each, EPPM-Iurie Leanca – 17%, DP – 16%, Antimafia Movement – 14%, MMP and LP– 13% each.

 

Had the parliamentary election been held next Sunday, 54% would have gone to vote, while 9% - not. With all this, 20% of respondents do not know for whom to vote. 21.7% would have voted for PRSM, 10.9% - LP, MCP – 10%, 7.8% - LDPM, 6.7% - Our Party, 5.9% - EPPM-Iurie Leanca, 5.6% - DP, the rest – less than 3%.
