OHM LEADER CALLS ON VOTERS TO SUPPORT ZINAIDA GRECHANAYA…

“Our Home is Moldova” party leader Grigore Petrenco has called upon the OHM electorate to support Party of Socialists candidate Zinaida Grechanaya at the second round of Chisinau mayoral election on June 28.

Petrenco said at a news conference at Infotag that he regards Grechanaya to be “a real alternative to the chaos that has been ruining Chisinau last 8 years”.

“Citizens should understand that the incumbent Chisinau Mayor – Liberal Dorin Chirtoaca – is a puppet in the money pocket of oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc. Chirtoaca proved this last time on June 7, when he organized his party’s rally in the city’s central square simultaneously with another rally prepared by an opposition organization – the Civil Platform “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”], and then on June 11, when an attempt was made to upset a big concert of Russian rock stars dedicated to Russia’s national holiday. Chirtoaca is a part of the Plahotniuc empire, and he works in close liaison with the oligarch”, said Grigore Petrenco.

He is convinced that even in the conditions of the current total usurpation of power by pro-European parties, it is possible to win a victory in elections, but only through citizens’ massive voting.

…AND ON PROSECUTION SERVICE – TO RETURN SHOR UNDER HOUSE ARREST

“Our Home is Moldova” (OHM) party leader Grigore Petrenco has addressed the Prosecutor General’s Office with a demand to return under house arrest prominent businessman Ilan Shor, the chief personality in the criminal case on the siphoning off a billion euros from three Moldovan banks.

Petrenco said at the news conference at Infotag that the election of Shor as Mayor of Orhei town on June 14 does not exempt him from criminal prosecution.

“I respect the choice made by Orhei citizens, even if they have voted for a person under investigation, a person being the chief figure in the scandalous case on stealing huge money from banks. We demand to place Ilan Shor back under house arrest”, stated Grigore Petrenco, and addressed to international observers and donor country representatives to follow the situation to the very end.

“Presently, Ilan Shor’s freedom is guaranteed by Plahotniuc. Only time will shortly what Shor was in the notorious money-stealing story – an instrument or an accomplice. If Shor is not placed back under house arrest, this will mean that Plahotniuc was standing behind the money siphoning off”, suggested Grigore Petrenco.

In his words, “Our Home is Moldova” will continue their uncompromised struggle against the current oligarchic ruling regime.

“A power reconfiguration will not save Moldova. It is necessary to put an end to the era of governing by the Liberal Democrats, Democrats, Communists and Liberals by holding an early parliamentary election. There is no other way”, said Grigore Petrenco.

Infotag’s dossier: On June 14, minimum 10 OHM candidates were elected as members of village and town councils [local legislatures]. And OHM representative Oleg Garizan was elected Mayor of Copceac, the biggest village in the southern Moldovan autonomous region of Gagauzia, in the first round on June 14.
