MOLDOVAN BUSINESS CLIMATE WORSENED IN 2Q2015 - RESEARCH

The business climate and the economic situation in Moldova in 2Q2015 worsened, showed the data of a business barometer, presented at Wednesday’s news conference at Infotag.

 

Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry France-Moldavie Emanuel Sculios said that the poll was conducted within the period of mid-May till mid-June among almost 100 companies.

 

Local elections, banking sector crisis, protraction in conducting of reforms, the government resignation forced Moldovan businesses come alert and freeze, waiting for further developments.

 

Executive Director of the Moldovan-German Economic Cooperation [MDW, Moldauisch-Deutschen Wirtschaftsvereinigung] Joachim Bischof said that the trade turnover and the profit of enterprises, which participated in the poll, turned out to be smaller than the very respondents were expecting.

 

He said that due to this, companies were restrained in new jobs creation, but raised their investments.

 

Despite the general negative trend, 11% of the interviewed companies expect that in the next quarter their development perspectives will keep stable. With all this, respondents hope for a slight growth in business development, Bischof said.

 

The MDW Director said that company managers’ expectations for the next quarter are preserving of the total number of personnel or its slight cut.

 

Press conference participants said that most serious changes will occur in importing companies and those, which are selling the imported goods, however according to respondents, they expect improving of the situation in 3Q2015.
