FOREIGN INVESTOR ARRESTED IN MOLDOVA

08 july, 2015
FOREIGN INVESTOR ARRESTED IN MOLDOVA Gene Burd, partner of the US company Arnall Golden Gregory LLP in Washington and representative of the company ICS Online IPS in Moldova, states that Moldovan authorities arrested an investor without filling concrete charges.

During Wednesday’s news conference at Infotag, Burd told that the company with foreign capital ICS Online IPS was accused of complicity in fraudulent transactions without any proofs.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars, belonging to clients, were arrested on accounts in Moldova. Director of the company, citizen of Israel, is in detention without being presented charges.

According to Burd, the ISC Online IPS was founded by US citizens. It has representative offices in California, Florida and Brazil. Moldova was elected by the company for extending its European business on processing online payments.

The company’s activity was blocked due to the fact that the National Anti-Corruption Center concluded that the popular in the USA system of consumer right protection, which guarantees returning of the money to the customer in case he is dissatisfied with the service or product, does not correspond to the Moldovan legislation, Burd said.

In his opinion, the Moldovan law enforcement bodies simply do not understand this business and are reluctant even to try.

In conclusion, Gene Burd asked why in Moldova, which needs jobs and which is interested in foreign investments, official bodies do not support companies with foreign capital, but simply close them. Why President Nicolae Timofti, Parliament Speaker Adrian Candu, Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy of Moldova Christophe Stephane Bride ignore the company’s addresses?, he wondered.
