OHM PARTY CALLS ON LEFT FORCES TO JOIN PROTESTS

15 july, 2015
OHM PARTY CALLS ON LEFT FORCES TO JOIN PROTESTS “Our Home is Moldova” party leader Grigore Petrenco calls left-wing parties and Moldovan citizens to join protest actions against raising of electricity tariffs.

He said during Wednesday’s news conference at Infotag that by means of media, the authorities are preparing the population for the thought that the 60% raising of tariffs on electricity is inevitable.

“On June 17 the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) will conduct a meeting, where decision to raise the tariff by 30% may be taken, which will considerably affect the budget of low-income families, pensioners, the disabled, as well as economic agents and Moldovan producers. However, the raising of tariffs will not influence mediators of electricity supplying: Energocom company and Energocapital enterprise, which obey Plahotniuc”, Petrenco said.

According to him, no matter how Plahotniuc tried, sooner or later truth will come out.

“People already know the Registru state enterprise belongs to him, while now the ANRE also came under his control. The authorities, together with Plahotniuc, try to take the last money from people. It seems that the stolen billions are not enough to Plahotniuc”, Petrenco said.

He stated that his party demands postponing of the ANRE meeting until an audit is conducted in electricity supplying companies.

“Raising of the electricity tariff will lead to growth in prices on all other services and goods”, said the party leader.

According to him, if the tariffs on electricity are raised, nominal compensations for low-income people, pensioners, the disabled should be immediately introduced.

“In Armenia, the authorities also tried to raise tariffs, but people came out for protesting and prevented this. Moldova’s citizens should do the same thing. We cannot allow electricity to grow in price”, Petrenco said.

He called left-oriented parties and Moldovan people to join and start protests in front of Plahotniuc’s office next week, as he fears popular anger.
