05 august, 2015
NGOs PROPOSE MAIA SANDU FOR THE POST OF PRESIDENT Moldovan nongovernmental organizations call on the country’s authorities to obey the Article 47 of the Constitution – “The right on social insurance and protection”- and propose the candidature of former education minister Maia Sandu for the post of President.

Chairman of the Party “Pentru Unire” [For Unification] Anna Tcaci said during Wednesday’s news conference at Infotag that the society needs to unite and not to ignore what happens in the country.

According to her, NGOs and Moldovan citizens are concerned about the situation in the country, especially the growth of prices that followed the electricity and gas tariff raising.

“Through their actions and the conducted policy, authorities are making game of the population. They should read the Article 47 of the Supreme Law and start thinking and help people”, she said.

Tcaci outraged why in Ukraine, where there is war for almost 2 years, prices on many products and services are lower than in Moldova, where there is peace.

She is sure that only a new political class and a new President may change the situation in the country. Thus, a referendum should be conducted in autumn about changing the procedure of electing president through nation-wide voting and Maia Sandu should be nominated for this post.

According to Tcaci, Sandu has successfully implemented reforms in the education system, she proved to everyone she is strong and thinks about the people and the future of the country.

Member of the Association of Professional Women of Moldova Liubov Hincu said that the situation in the country is a result of a harmful policy of authorities.

According to her, representatives of nongovernmental organizations demand change of the current political class with one that will be able to implement reforms and improve people’s life.

She added that Sandu has all the necessary qualities to become President and adequately run the country.
