ANIMAL RIGHTS ADVOCATES OUTRAGED BY BRUTAL MURDER OF EIGHT PUPPIES

Animal rights advocates outraged by the brutal murder of eight puppies in the forest belt near the Agricultural University of Moldova. This happened past Saturday.

Chairperson of the inter-ethnic cultural human rights Association "Consent" Eduard Volcov told at the press conference on Wednesday that they cared for them for about a month and found them dead with traces of blows with a heavy object on the head.

He suspects the former prisoner in the incident, with whom he had a quarrel, or the "drunken madam" who could do this, being in alcohol intoxication.
Chairperson of public organization on animals’ rights protection ALGA Valentina Dudnic believes that the cruel murder of animals is a result of "society degradation".

"We have seen a very bad attitude towards animals. We need to find the source of the infection and to eradicate it. Indifference to our younger brothers is cultivated among children. Many children believe from an early age that to kick a cat is normal. When foreigners see the dogs, they immediately begin to stroke them, and our citizens are frightened," she said.

Animal rights advocates have encouraged authorities to resolve the problems of homeless animals, believing that "sterilization is not the best solution". They insist on the construction of a municipal shelter, adoption of law on animals’ protection and harsher punishments for cruelty to them.

In addition, according to them, it is necessary to create a veterinary police, and competent authorities should be involved in it.
